Some of my favorite memories of Grandma from when I was little…how fun it was to have your Gram be the “Avon lady“ and she always had little sample treats like flavored chapsticks for us…when Dad would bring us to visit she always had her delicious bundt cake and I loved looking at all her bells and her telling me where she got them…my 9th birthday fell on Easter Sunday and her and Grandpa gave me the most beautiful pink Easter dress that I remember feeling like a little princess in…when the family all got together on special occasions and we all packed in she would let us oldest ones play in her room so we could spend time together and not have to watch the younger ones…I remember one time mentioning to her and my Dad that most people’s Grandma’s had grey hair and Grandma still had such nice blonde hair and Dad laughed so hard that Grandma was annoyed with him, I just remember that because I rarely remember Gram being annoyed with anyone. Some of my favorite memories as an adult with Gram…when she’d have a wine cooler or two and she’d get even chattier and funnier…getting her dancing at weddings was always so much fun, lady had moves! Once us grandkids starting having our babies, it was rare to see her without a baby in her arms. Twenty years ago when we lived up on Greenlawn by the cemetery, Colby was two years and Bailey(chunky monkey then) ran into Cole and knocked him completely out, he’s having seizures as I’m panicking calling 911, and then down to Dads to have someone come to watch my other boys. Grandma answered their phone and was the only one there. Seventy years old and up that hill that lady beat the ambulance there! And that pretty much says everything about her…family was everything to her and she loved us all. She remembered every birthday, every anniversary. She’s gone on to be with other loved ones but all that love she’s given and has been given…that’s a legacy right there. A legacy of love she’s left us all with and what could really be better than that?
I love you always Grandma.
