Obituary of David John Cottell
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David John Cottell, 75, of Bainbridge passed away on November 27, 2024.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, John and Thelma Cottell, and his brother, Mark Cottell.
He is survived by: his wife, Bonnie Cottell; his son Jeromy and spouse, Jill Cottell; his daughter, Jennifer Williams; and his three grandchildren Skylar Cottell, Evan Williams, and Lucas Williams. He is also survived by his brothers, Scott and spouse, Yvonne Cottell, and John Cottell.
Dave was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and joyful grandfather. Family was very important to him.
Dave worked as a pharmaceutical salesman until 2008. Since retirement didn't suit him, he went back to work as a driver for medical transportation, finally retiring again in 2023. Dave was a very outgoing, friendly person, who enjoyed being around people and helping them.
Dave enjoyed sports and throughout his life played a variety of them. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Golden Knights fan. Many years ago, he helped start the Afton Youth football program and was active with the Afton Little League. In later years he stayed active playing golf. It was not unusual to see him at the Afton Golf Course multiple times during the week playing with friends.
Dave loved the outdoors. From Cub Scout to Boy Scout to Explorer, camping was Dave's thing. We camped at a variety of places, but there was one special place that the family always returned to, "Roger's Rock" at Lake George, NY. It started with his childhood, continued with his children and then with grandchildren. Every year, no matter what, a week or two had to be spent camping at Lake George, Roger's Rock.
Calling hours will be held December 21, 2024, from 1-3pm at CH Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. A memorial service for Dave will follow at 3:00pm.
