12 years ago around this time of year Dan gave to me the best gift I have received to date. Dan gave me the gift of music. I remember it vividly my father calling Dan saying my son has been bugging me to learn the guitfiddle. Dan answered the bell and brought his own guitar to me to borrow and taught me my first chords on a guitar. I will always be thankful to Dan for that. As I sit here thinking of Dan I also remember not long after my father passing visiting Dan feeling down and out. He had 4 lottery tickets in his shirt pocket and said Darren lets see if we can change your luck. He handed me a lottery ticket and I scratched it off and to my amazement I was holding a 500 dollar winner. I said Dan I just won u 500 dollars. He looked up at me with a grin a mile wide and said bud u didn't win me nothing its your's. Those are just 2 of a lifetime of great memories I have of Dan that I felt are just to good to keep to myself. Thanks Dan for being a wonderful neighbor and a great friend. Deepest sympathies to the family.
