Darla and family, Our condolences go out to you and your family. We always enjoyed talking to Thorny whenever we saw him during our daily walks with our dogs. We couldn't help but notice the work he put into the house and yard to keep his place one of the best looking properties on Greenlawn Ave. We have missed him and will continue to do so. Thornton "Thorny" Young was a genuine "human being." A real, living and loving person in all the best ways. I first met him as a caring and patient friend to my mother, Doris Bird, after she became a widow. He was so very much more to so many. He was very proud to have served his country, in war and in peace. He was devoted to his wife and to her memory, every single day. Above all else, Thornton Young, you lived a long and fulfilling life devoted to God, Country and Family and now, home with your dear Esther. P.S. I never called him, "Thorny," in person. I always felt it was slightly less respectful. Now, I know, I was wrong. God Bless You, Thorny.

My sincere condolences to the Young family on Thornton's passing . Thornton and my father worked together for many years . As well both Thornton and Esther were close friends with my parents. I always enjoyed seeing them when I was younger and spending time talking with them , two kinder and nicer people you'll never meet in life. After the untimely death of Everett, Thornton took over and was always there to help out, he always had the time for a visit or a phone call, as was Esther. To the entire and extended Young Family-We were saddened to hear of Thorny's passing. He has been such a fixture in our community for so many years. A peer of my parents, my first encounters with him were going by the house on my way to school as a young girl and marveling at all his beautiful gardens he had. Later, after Esther died, he and my mom became pitch partners. I'm sure he had some great stories to tell his family about his life and growing up in our community. I am happy he is back with Esther again, and I am sure she was there to greet him with open arms. Thinking of you all as you lay him to rest on his final journey-Paul and Caroline DiNoto-Laing
