Kathryn "Kay" Ives
Bainbridge, NY
Kathryn "Kay" Ives, 79, of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Mercy House in Endicott.
She was born September 5, 1941 in Brockport, NY, the daughter of the late William and Marjorie (Steen) Burdick. She received her degree in accounting from Harpur College (Suny Binghamton) in June 1963. Then, on July 20th, 1963, she married David Ives. Together, they were the definition of the Family Farm. Her work ethic was second to none. Kay was the feeder in the barn, feeding cows and calves twice a day for decades. Her work continued when "barn chores" were done. She was the farm accountant, always finding a way to pay the bills when the farm economy was challenging. She passed on the family tradition of freezing Sweet Corn to many generations to come. Kay's homemade chocolate chip cookies were a family favorite and she always said they disappeared too fast.
Kay is survived by her son, Mark and daughter-in-law, Crystal; son, Tom; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Vetter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Nancy Ives; sister-in-law, Dawn Ives; former brother-in-law, Roland Pimm; grandsons, Philip (Cadi), Adam, Zachary and Brent; granddaughters, Shelby and Abigail; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, David; sisters, Marilee and Evelyn; brothers, Richard and Greg; brother-in-law, Alan, and daughter-in-law, Kellie.
Friends may call from 2:00-5:00pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Burial will be private in Yaleville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay's memory may be made to Mercy House, 212 N. McKinley Ave. Endicott, NY 13760.
