Obituary of Elmer A. Cook

Elmer A. Cook Sidney, NY Elmer A. Cook, "Cookie", 91, of Sidney, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at A.O. Fox Nursing Facility in Oneonta. Cookie was born on April 28, 1924 in Wilkesbarre, PA. He served his country in the US Army from June 1943 to February 1946 and was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. On November 27, 1965, he was married to Eva Wahnetta Clark, sharing 50 years of marriage. Cookie worked as an auto mechanic in New Jersey before relocating to the Unadilla/Sidney area. He owned a gas station in Unadilla where he began selling vegetables. The business grew and Cookie and his wife opened Cook's Produce in Sidney. They also founded and operated Cookie Cab for many years prior to retiring. He was a life member of the Sidney V.F.W. Post 7914 and Sidney American Legion Post 183. His favorite hobby was fishing. Cookie is survived by: his wife, Wahnetta Cook; six children, two step-children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and his two dogs, Mickey and Minnie.
