Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley Irene Bolster, of Afton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at AO Fox Hospital in Oneonta. Born November 9, 1947, to Archie and Verna Carr Bolster, Shirley spent her life as an active member of the Afton community. She had a career with the Binghamton Psychiatric Hospital for 28 years and was now retired. But she was a hard-working member of many civic organizations in her home town. She loved her time with the members of Hope Congregational Church in Afton and could be counted on to support any activity that the Afton Community Theater sponsored. She was a board member of the Greater Afton Area Chamber of Commerce and worked on the Inner Church Council. She always had a cheery smile and a friendly wave for everyone she encountered and will be missed by many. Shirley was an avid keeper of family records and pursued genealogical studies after her retirement. She was also the organizer of the Bolster family reunions. Shirley was survived by one brother, Dale Bolster of Sidney, an aunt, Harriet Carr of New Jersey and a nephew, Jeffrey Bolster of Sidney. She was pre-deceased by her parents, a sister, Diane and a nephew, Brian Bolster. Shirley will be laid to rest in the Hambletville Cemetery in Deposit, New York.
