David R. Bogart, Afton, NY
David R. Bogart has been called home to continue life eternal, October 16th, forever thankful to Jesus, his Lord and Savior.
He was a life-long resident of Afton, blessed with 69 –year marriage to Mildred (Mulwane) Bogart (July 3, 1945), until the Lord called her home on January 7, 2014.
Both were members of the First Baptist Church of Afton. David worked as a general laborer at the NYS Department of Transportation in Bainbridge, until his retirement in 1983. He also served in the United States Army.
Dad was an excellent father and example; a sorely-missed best friend, a reliable and sturdy supply of strength and reassurance. Often we heard Dad sitting beside us singing Hymns in Church. When he grew ill, we could hear him whistle those same hymns, or play them on his harmonica, during the early morning hours. He often related the value of his mother's singing to his life-long love affair, devoted to God in song.
David is also predeceased by twins, David Edward and Donald Michael, his sister, Evelyn Johnson and brothers, Donald and Robert (Elmira), his father Earl James Bogart and mother Ruth (Allen) Bogart. He is survived by sons Gary (Ithaca) and Thomas and Barbara (Beardsley) Bogart, (Guilford), granddaughter Ariel; grandson David and Elizabeth Connis, great granddaughter Olivia, and sister-in-law Lena Quickel (Elizabethtown, NJ)
He is glad to be home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 21, at the First Baptist Church in Afton with Rev. Chris Prezorski officiating.
Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery in Afton.
