Anthony J. Zieno, 87, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, known to many as Dad, Papa, Tony and "The General", passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City. Tony was born on June 22, 1928, son of the late Joseph and Nancy (Graffalo) Zieno in Norwich. He served his country in the United States Army from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952.
On June 25, 1955, he was married to Theresa Spadaro in Norwich. Tony worked in all facets of the grocery business, both setting up and managing stores, finally retiring from Victory Market in Sidney.
He was a dedicated member of the Sacred Heart Church in Sidney where he was active with the Knights of Columbus and the church's Harvest Festival, where he was renowned for his homemade sausage. He was a member of the Unadilla Rod & Gun Club and the Sidney Golf & Country Club, and was a Charter Member of the Sidney Elks Lodge 2175.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to garden, golf and play cards. He had a friendly disposition and a terrific sense of humor, well known for his jokes. He will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Grandchildren: Jonathan and Stephanie Zieno, Patrick Zieno (Colleen Reagan), Daniel Giglio (Monica), Geana Giglio, Michael Giglio, Jarad Boucher, Nicholas Zieno and Corine Zieno
Sister, Angie Natoli of Norwich
Sisters-in-law: Dolly and Sam Dinoto of Bainbridge, Mary D'Angelo of Norwich, Molly Garito of Norwich and Rose Spadaro of Carneige, PA.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Tony was predeceased by his son, Mark Zieno, brother, Joseph Favorito, sister, Rose Schibeci, his favorite dog, Timber and many hunting friends.
Friends may call from 2:00-5:00pm on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, September 4th at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St. Sidney with Fr. Gordon Polenz officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
