John Joseph Robertson
Masonville, NY
John Joseph Robertson, 45, of Masonville, NY, passed away peacefully on April 7th at his home.
John was born in Sayre, PA to Joseph and Trudyann (Vitale) Robertson on December 11, 1969. John went to high school in Montrose, PA and graduated in 1988. He attended Methodist College where he studied golf course management. John worked as the course superintendent at Hardwood Hills Golf Course in Masonville since 2001. He loved his job and helped design and build the back nine holes. John enjoyed playing baseball when he was young, but was introduced to golf by his paternal grandfather as a teenager. He became an avid golfer and participated in a Wednesday night golf league. He enjoyed golfing with his wife and "golfing buddies" in his free time. John's maternal grandfather taught him how to hunt and he shared that hobby with his stepchildren.
John is survived by: his wife Jill (Van Pelt) Robertson of Masonville, NY; his stepchildren: Jodi Babcock of Sidney, NY, Keli Babcock of Newport News, VA, Lucas Babcock of Bainbridge, NY and Tyler Babcock of Greenwood, DE; his mother-in-law, Nancy Van Pelt, Sidney, NY; father-in-law, David Van Pelt, Deposit, NY; sisters-in-law, Julie Bonker of Trout Creek, NY, Nicole (Scott) Shelton of Trout Creek, NY and Jennifer Gifford of Masonville, NY; his parents Joseph and Trudyann Robertson of Troy, NY; his brother, Richard (Katherine) Robertson of Ravena, NY and his uncle, John Vitale of Montrose, PA, several nieces, nephews, cousins and three grandchildren.
Friends are invited to come celebrate his life on Friday, April 17th from 5-8 at The River Club Restaurant, 1 Maple Street, Afton, NY.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Catskill Area Hospice and to Dale Wagner, owner of Hardwood Hills, for the many opportunities he provided to John at work and the support he gave during the past few months.
