Lawrence J. "Larry" Laing
Bainbridge, NY
Lawrence John "Larry" Laing, 51, of Bainbridge, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Larry was born on September 11, 1963, son of William J. and Doreen (Odell) Laing in Sidney and graduated from Bainbridge-Guilford School. Larry was a truck driver for the family business, Laing Trucking.
Larry was always interested in kids and sports. He coached basketball and football at Unatego High School, baseball at Bainbridge-Guilford, as well as pony league, youth baseball and Babe Ruth. Larry was instrumental in making the town of Bainbridge baseball field safer for the players using it.
He was a dedicated fan of the Boston Celtics, NY Yankees, NY Giants and SU basketball. He was also an avid golfer. Larry enjoyed blue grass music and played the bass in the Laing Brothers Band.

Larry was predeceased by his father, William J. Laing, and his brother-in-law, Allan Holden.
Friends are invited to call from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm on Monday, March 23, 2015 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Graveside services will take place in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery, Meridale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bainbridge Youth Sports Baseball and brought to NBT Bank in either Sidney or Bainbridge.
