Juan "John" Perez
Juan "John " Perez, 88 of Masonville passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Tri-town Regional Hospital in Sidney.
He was born April 9, 1926 to Emanuel and Menancia Perez in New York City and has lived in many Family Care homes since 1987. He was living in the Alfred Vara Family Home in Masonville for the last 8 years
He was a pleasant, easy going and good natured man.
John was creative and has always enjoyed coloring, drawing, was good at water color and he even dabbled in wood working. He will proudly display his art when asked and enjoys organizing his coloring books and keeping them all together. He also enjoyed watching TV and old western's, during these movies he would get upset at the crooks in the movies (stealing/harming a woman) and shake his fists angrily in the air at them. John also enjoyed dining out with his care provider such as Little Cesar's & going to McDonalds to get breakfast sandwiches.
In his younger days was a motivated worker at RFI (workshop) in Walton. He was involved with Delaware Regional Center (DRC) social clubs and enjoyed many recreation outings with his peers such as horseback riding. John also enjoyed Vacation trips & going to DRC camp in the summer. His other interests include any sporting event such as bowling, basketball, and his favorite sport was baseball. He used to collect baseball cards and pictures. John even used to play short stop on the DRC baseball team.
In the past, John loved helping out around the house and used to initiate outdoor chores such as raking and stacking wood. He also liked to build little structures with stone and scrap wood. John was unable to participate in such tasks later in life due to his age/health and would prefer staying busy inside his home by participating in more leisurely activities. John was known to hide items on his Care provider but would relocate them when asked.
