Obituary of Paul Edward Whitney

Paul E. Whitney Sidney, NY - Paul Edward Whitney, 87, resident of Stuart, FL and former resident of Sidney, NY died Sunday, March 1st, 2015 in Fort Pierce, FL. Paul was born on January 29, 1928 in Sidney, NY, the son of Aubrey and Mildred (Strait) Whitney. He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Whitney and his brother, Aubrey Whitney of Afton. He is survived by his children: Cindy Chaffee (Marshall), Linda Meyers (Mark), Donna Vandermark (Dave) and Sandy Henderson (Erik) and by Betty's children: Sue Hayen (John), Tim Pendorf (Cindy) and Sandy Pendorf; his grandchildren: Ashley, Melissa, Josh, Zachary, Mitchell, Claudia, Grace, Amber, Jarrin, Christopher, Dustin, Rae Jean, Calvin, Travis and Terence. Paul is also survived by his lifelong friends Dick and Helen Dickson of Sidney, NY and Tom and Sally Frawley of Calabash, NC. Paul was born and raised in Sidney, NY, graduated from Sidney High School in 1946 and State University of New York-Utica in 1951. After college, Paul joined the Air Force and was able to spend two years in Japan during that time. After fulfilling his duty in the Air Force, he began a career at Bendix where he retired at 58 years of age. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He was a wonderful caregiver over the years, first to his four children, then to his mother, and finally to his love Betty as she battled cancer later in her life. He had the love and admiration of all who knew him which can be attributed to his kind heart, strong work ethic, and insistence on honesty. A memorial service will take place at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY on Saturday, April 11th at 1:00 pm where the family will be in attendance.
