Obituary of Therese F. Burke

Therese F. Burke Sidney, NY Therese F. Burke (nee Harr), age 87, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2015 in Sidney, NY. She is survived by her committed companion, Kenneth Shackelton of Sidney; her children, Frances Burke of Highland Park, NJ, Kathleen Herban (Richard) of Sayreville, NJ and Dorothy Tribble of Powhatan, VA and daughter-in-law Penny Burke of Slaterville Springs, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Burke, Sr.; her sons, William J. Burke, Jr. and Thomas Burke, and her grandson, Ivan Frear. Therese is the loving grandmother to Thomas Marks, Brendan Marks, Richard Herban, Jr., Edward Herban (Maureen), Joseph Cummings (Tammy), Dorothy Sherman (Shane), Daniel Burke (Amy), Ted Burke, Brad Burke, Allison Snyder (James), Andrew Tribble and Patricia Tribble. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Therese was born on October 20, 1927 in Bronx, NY where she lived until moving to Sidney in 1972. She was active in Chapter 502 of the Women of the Moose and also the VFW Post 7914 Ladies Auxiliary. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 6:00-8:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 28th at the funeral chapel. Following the service, a gathering will be held at the Sidney Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
