Obituary of Lillian S. Schlafer

Lillian "Sally" Schlafer Sidney, NY Lillian Sarah "Sally" Schlafer passed away peacefully on February 11, 2015 surrounded by loving family. She was born January 21, 1931 in Honesdale, PA to Burton & Lovina (Skinner) Scott. She is survived by her children: Richard (Jo Ann) Schlafer, Joseph (Victoria) Schlafer, of Unadilla, Laura Clune (Steve) SC, Albert Clune (Sherry), and Darlene (Michael) Hockert, FL, and her sister Phyllis Williams, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Lani, Reuben, Elisha, Erin, Allison, Kathy, Pamela, Kimberly, Steven, Joshua, Julie, Keith and Tiffany as well as several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Paul E. Clune ; Richard W. Schlafer and daughter Carmen Ann; daughter-in-law Debby Clune ; grandsons, Michael Matthewson and Paul Charles Clune; her brothers Russel, Chester and Billy and her sisters, Reva Slish, Dorothy Bigelow, Jean Vasconi and Gladys Jinks. A resident of the tri-town area for most of her adult life, Sally was well known for her exceptional skills as the perfect waitress at many local dining establishments, retiring from Nancy's Place in January 2001. She was actively involved with Cub Scouts, Literacy Volunteers and a member of the Sidney Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 15th at Trackside Dining, 88 Main Street in Sidney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Sidney Senior Meals, Sidney United Methodist Church Share the Bounty or any food pantry or soup kitchen of your choice, and when dining out, remember Sally and treat your server well.
