Winnie passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 18, 1923, the daughter of the late James and Frances Puffer. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was dearly loved by the entire family and all who knew her. Winnie lived for her family and loved spending time with them. She was a hard worker, very active in Church, loved square dancing, playing pinochle, was a charter member of the Maywood Historical Group, loved dong the Rural Rhythm Shows, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Winnie was predeceased by her husband, Wilber Roof in 2000.
Winnie is survived by: five children: son, Bert Roof & Ruth Curtis of Bainbridge, daughter and devoted long time caregiver, Joan Roof of Sidney Center, daughter, Carol Hulbert of Walton, son, Lynn and Sharon Roof of Sidney Center and son, Carl and Suzette Roof of Cincinnati, Ohio; Grandchildren, Wendi (Matt) Baylor, Rhonda (Mike) Massey, Steve (Kim) Roof, Shari Roof, Wayne (Lori) Hulbert, Brenda (Jeremy) Miller, Tammie (Eugene) Clark, Jeremy (Becky) Roof, Mark (Tara) Roof, Kristy Roof, Michael (Renee) Roof, Joshua Roof and Taylor Roof; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris Puffer, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Winnie was also predeceased by siblings, Clifton Puffer and Virginia Lambrecht; son-in-law, Denman Hulbert; and great-grandchildren Devon and Carter.
Friends are invited to call from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 10, 2014 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 11th at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Sidney Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Sidney Center Emergency Squad, Sidney Center Family and Friends Church, or Maywood Historical Depot.
