Obituary of James LeRoy Steele

Jim Steele, born December 10, 1958 Son of Willard (Pete) Steele and Bev Steele of Sidney Center, passed away Aug. 29, 2014, at the age of 55. His final days were spent at the Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, after fighting a hopeless battle with Cancer. Jim is predeceased by his parents, Pete in 1995 and Bev in 2013, a sister Katherine, Grandmother Mae Steele, Grandparents Perry and Grace Shaver,and several Aunts & Uncles. He is survived by his two daughters, Bambi Steele and her son Quin, and Lacey Steele (Rich Siar) and their two children Allison & Richie, both of Walton. Jim is also survived by his four sisters, Gina Wood of Walton, Marilyn (Tracy) Reynolds of Afton, Jeannette (John) Short of Otego, and Marcia (Ron) Bargher of Sidney. Jim had several nieces and nephews, Sonia Baragher, Heather Moore, Jeremy Pettit, Miguel and Nick Short, and Patrick and Carlee Bargher. He also had many Aunts and Uncles Jim spent most of his life doing some kind of farming and working in the Stone quarries. His younger years were spent on the family farm. Later he went to Florida, where for most of that time worked on a sod farm, came back home in 2011. He got back in to stone quarrying a little bit and worked on the Finch farm, in Sidney Center. There was one day out of the year that he looked forward to, and that was the Sidney Center Tractor Parade. There will be a private graveside service for the family in Highland Cemetery in Sidney Center on Thursday, September 11th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sidney Center Fire Dept. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com Arrangements are under the direction of C.H.
