Obituary of Wayne R. Thompson

Wayne R. Thompson Bainbridge, NY May 18, 2014 Wayne R. Thompson, 76, of 182 Dingman Hill Road, Bainbridge, New York passed away at his home on May 18, 2014 – Wayne was the son of Clyde and Augusta Thompson of Brasher Falls. NY. On March 18, 1961 Wayne married and is survived by Dorothy Johnson of Mexico, New York. They enjoyed more than 53 years of marriage. Wayne is also survived by his children, Sherry Thompson-Hill and her husband Mickey of Harpursville, NY and Tim Thompson and his wife, Kelly, of Speculator, New York; four grandchildren, Katie Deck of Clearwater, Florida, Michael Deck of Binghamton, NY, Tia Thompson and Jenna Thompson of Speculator, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Bashaw of King of Prussia, PA and brother, Clyde B. Thompson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as well as his parents. Wayne was a graduate of St. Lawrence Central School, Brasher Falls, NY and the Canton Institute of Technology, Canton, New York. He worked at General Electric, Syracuse, NY and then at Amphenol in Sidney and Raymond Corporation in Greene, NY as a Design Draftsman. Wayne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge for over forty years and served as Trustee and choir member for most of those years. He was also a member of the Raymond Chorus. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed sports to include hunting, fishing, softball, tennis, cross-country skiing, and bowling. Wayne also enjoyed making many projects from wood including furniture and other enhancements for their home. Wayne will be remembered by his friends, family, and co-workers for his quick wit as well as unbelievable good luck when enjoying and winning cards and games! Calling hours and funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 12 South Main Street, Bainbridge, NY. Calling hours will be 2:00 – 4:00pm with the service commencing at 4:00pm on Wednesday May 21, 2014. A light meal will be held in the Church Dining Room following the service. Contributions may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, New York 13815.
