Marjorie E. Almy, 99, a resident of Otsego Manor and formerly of Unadilla, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Otsego Manor in Cooperstown. Marjorie was born on November 18, 1914, daughter of the late Orvil and Lillian (Darling) Sheldon in Knox, NY. On December 24, 1938, she was married to George C. Almy in Schoharie, NY. He predeceased her on December 18, 1996. Marjorie was a longtime employee of Amphenol Corporation, working as an office secretary from 1957 until her retirement in 1978. In their earlier years, Marge and George loved to travel; they had a motor home which they drove all across the country. She was a dedicated member of the East Guilford United Presbyterian Church.
Marjorie is survived by:
2 sons, Richard Almy of Harrisonburg, Virginia
Robert and Cheryl Almy of Hurricane, Utah
1 daughter, Sandra and William Burnham of Otego, NY
11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren
Companion and best friend, Megan

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Clarence Sheldon and 3 sisters: Antoinette Dillon, Caroline Barton and Grace Marks.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney with Rev. Patty Wolff, pastor of East Guilford Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to either the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 E. Main St. Sidney, NY 13838 or to the East Guilford Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 147 Sidney.
