Avis May Lambrecht, 85, of Sidney Center passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta NY. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Warren, and all of her five children. Avis was born in Sidney, NY on September 28, 1928, to the late Daniel and Hazel Bennett, also of Sidney Center. Avis was a lifetime resident of Sidney Center, always living in the rural outskirts of the town, and was a 1947 graduate of the Sidney Central School. She married Warren P. Lambrecht; also a lifetime resident of rural Sidney Center, on July 1, 1949 and they were married for nearly 65 years.
Avis is survived by her husband, her son Randall W. Lambrecht and daughter-in-law Georgieanna of Bainbridge NY, her daughter Sandra Y. Miner and son-in-law Vern of Bainbridge, her daughter Sharon M. Gilbert and son-in-law Dale of Otego NY, her son David A. Lambrecht of Bainbridge, her son Stephen M. Lambrecht of Sidney Center. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Jennifer L. Lambrecht of Bainbridge, grandson Tracy S. Lambrecht of Oneonta NY, granddaughter Heidi C. Burgin of Otego, granddaughter Brandy A. Burgin of Bethel CT, grandson Scott M. Lambrecht and grand-daughter-in-law Rebecca of Masonville NY, grandson Cody M. Lambrecht of Sidney Center, granddaughter Karissa R. Lambrecht of Sidney Center, grandson Joshua C. Lambrecht of Bainbridge, grandson Thomas W. Hatton of Walton NY, and granddaughter Tammy M. Archeval and grand-son-in-law Louis of Troy NY. Avis is further survived by her brother Lyle Bennett and sister-in-law Nancy of Sidney Center, her brother Ivan Bennett and sister-in-law Carol of Sidney Center. She is predeceased by her brother Lynn Bennett of Walton, her sister-in-law Beatrice, Lynn's wife, still resides in Walton. Avis is also survived by five beloved great grandchildren.
Avis was beloved by her family and all members of the community who got to knew her over her lifetime. Although limited in her activities over the later years of her life due to an illness a few years back, Avis enjoyed many activities over the span of her life. For many years she was an avid bowler, bowling on various couples and ladies leagues in Wells Bridge, Sidney, and Bainbridge lanes. During the 1980's she, her husband, and close friends were enthusiastic members of the Sidney Moose Club. She was a member of the Sidney Center United Methodist Church. Avis enjoyed doing many crafts including sewing, knitting, and cooking and was a many years member of the Sidney Center Craft Club. Perhaps Avis's most enjoyed hobby over the years was camping. She enjoyed camping in various campsites of the Adirondack Mountains and Verona Beach for many years and particularly enjoyed taking her grandchildren along on her and Warrens many camping trips.
Friends may call from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Monday, March 3, 2014 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial in Highland Cemetery, Sidney Center, will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sidney Center Emergency Squad.
