Eleanor E. Winfield, 86, of Mt. Upton passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Norwich Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 5, 1927, daughter of the late Glenn and Fanny (Sherwood) Pope in New Berlin.
Eleanor married Raymond Miner, he predeceased her. She later married Lester Winfield on July 26, 1958. He predeceased her on January 31, 2014.
Eleanor was employed as a bench hand for the Amphenol Corp in Sidney when she retired in 1989. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Upton and the Borden Hose Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and puzzles.
She is survived by:
4 sons and 2 daughters: John and Marie Miner of Gilbertsville, Dianna Wheeler of Daytona Beach, FL, Carlton Miner of Sidney, Joan and Ron Wildenstein of Mt. Upton, Gene Miner of Hawaii, and William and Donna Miner of Ocala, FL
Daughter-in-law, Lucinda Miner of Bradenton, FL
Brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Linda Pope, Mt. Upton
Sister, Alberta Ives, Sidney
Sister and Brother-in-law, Kathleen and Steve Brown, Bradley, IL
22 Grandchildren, 43 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren
As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also predeceased by son, Donald Miner; two brothers Elsor and Niles Pope; grandson, Scott Miner and daughter-in-law, Bonnie.
Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Thomas Flanders officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Upton, 1749 State Highway 8, Mt. Upton, NY 13809 or to the Mt. Upton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 199, Mt. Upton.
