Predeceased by her twin brother & sister Lennie & Linda Darling In her senior year of high school 1973 Barb was leading lady in the play How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying which launched her love for local theater in which she performed in numerous Tri-Town productions. Barbara enjoyed teaching Sunday school to children and was involved for years with VBS at Circle Drive Alliance Church and also a worship leader at the church. Barb began her training as a legal secretary with Attorney Bill Denman in Bainbridge. She took a detour from the law for a few years and worked for the Kentucky State Troopers in their dispatch office. Upon her return to New York, she resumed her career as a legal secretary for Livingston ("Link") Latham in Unadilla and worked with him for more than 12 years until his retirement. She was also a devoted caretaker for Mr. Latham in his later years. In 1992, Mr. Latham retired and Barb began working with the law firm of Coughlin & Gerhart in Unadilla. She was in charge of the firm's Unadilla branch office and became infamously known as "Unadilla Barb" or "UB". Even when the firm moved its branch office from Unadilla to Bainbridge in December of 2011, Barb maintained her "Unadilla Barb" nickname. Barb was a loyal, diligent and exemplary legal secretary and paralegal for Coughlin & Gerhart and continued working until January of 2014. She worked with many law offices, courts, and clients throughout Chenango, Delaware and Otsego Counties. She "assisted" (in fact, taught and trained) many new associate attorneys and paralegals as they learned about the law. Throughout her career and even in the face of her health issues, her dedication and positive attitude inspired her co-workers. She was always ready with an amusing story or email to brighten the day. Barbara served on the board of the Unadilla Community Foundation as a board member and secretary for many years. She was also a representative for the Otsego County Republican Committee and enthusiastically helped to gather signatures on petitions and get out the vote. In 2012, she was awarded the alumni award by BOCES/DCMO A celebration of Barbara's life will take place Friday February 21st 2014 - 2:00PM at the Circle Drive Alliance Church-6 Circle Drive Sidney, NY 13838 officiated by Rev Adam K Sellen.
