ALICE V. HARAGEONES, 82, of Unadilla, NY passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at her residence to be with her Lord. She was born July 16, 1931 in Cadosia, NY and graduated from Hancock Central School. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Alexander Harageones, and two brothers, Milton Schriver and Donald Schriver. In 1957, she and her husband, Alex, relocated their family to Unadilla and purchased the Merriman farm where she resided until her passing.
Alice was the mother of sixteen children: James Harageones of Trenton, NJ; Ernest Harageones of Mary Esther, FL; Elaine Harageones of Port Crane, NY; Rosemary Soule of Muscle Shoals, AL; Michael Harageones of Unadilla, NY; Thomas Harageones of Unadilla, NY; Peter Harageones of Unadilla, NY; Chrysanthe Landers of Leighton, AL; David Harageones of Binghamton, NY; Daniel Harageones of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Kathleen Bullis of Unadilla, NY; George Harageones of Delancey, NY; Andrea Harageones of Mary Esther, FL, Anne Kornacki of Seneca, NY; Jennifer Butler of Mt. Vision and Joseph Harageones of Unadilla, NY.
Along with running the dairy farm for 30 years and raising her children, Alice worked at H&R Block in Sidney for many years until she purchased the franchise in 1991 and then sold shortly after the death of her husband. Alice loved her gardening and the outdoors; she was active in the Sand Hill Methodist church, where she played the organ; and also the Eastern Star. Alice died doing what she loved the most by caring for her great grandchildren, Adrianna and Carmen. She always had a special place in her heart for all of her 48 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at C.H. Landers Funeral Home in Sidney: calling hours will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and Saturday, February 1st from 12:00noon to 1:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 1:00 pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in the spring in Sand Hill Cemetery, Wells Bridge.
