Obituary of Fay A. Sawdy

Fay A. Sawdy Masonville, NY A golden heart stopped beating on January 3, 2014 when Fay A. Sawdy was called Home to be with the Angels in Heaven. She was born September 2, 1935 to Ivan G. and Vivian (Dunshee) Wilson in Bainbridge. Fay married Ray Sawdy on July 27, 1968; he predeceased her on August 18, 1989. Fay was a life long resident of Masonville, New York. She worked as the Manager at the Masonville Mirabito Quickway for 20 plus years. After retirement she went back as a store clerk for the Quickway in Masonville and worked several hours a week right up until she was ill. Fay was well known in the town of Masonville offering her beautiful smile and caring heart to all. Anyone that knew Fay knew that she always put others before herself. Always. Her love of life, family and friends was evident in ALL she did. Fay was an active member of the Sidney United Methodist Church. She was involved in the Tri - Town Relay for Life event walking with the Sidney Federal Credit Union Team "Friends Fighting for a Cure" raising several hundreds of dollars on her own. She also participated yearly in the Binghamton "Making Strides" walking event ~ again raising hundreds of dollars on her own. Fay was also known for her love of music and dance. She was an active weekly member of Mindy Mills line dancing class in Sidney. Fay fought a courageous battle against a rare blood disorder; Cryoglobulinemia. Cryoglobulinemia is the presence of abnormal proteins in the blood causing clumps so that blood does not flow. This clumping caused irregular flow of blood to Fay's kidney's causing her kidney's to fail. She passed peacefully in her sleep with family by her side. Fay is survived by: Her Mother, Vivian Wilson, Masonville Children ~ Del Turtur of Bayonne NJ, Kim Simonds (Turtur) of Masonville NY, Vicki Stith (Turtur) of Bainbridge NY and husband Chuck, Nancy Galyen (Turtur) of Apalachin NY and husband Wayne, Rebecca LaRose (Sawdy) of Sidney NY and husband Mark, Lisa Sawdy of Sidney NY . 3 Step Children ~ Ray (LaVern) Sawdy of Apalachin NY and wife Cheryl, Fred Sawdy of Florida and wife Joanne and Dixie Niece (Sawdy) of Walton and husband Clark . She is also survived by a sister Elaine Loucks Eldred and husband Stan from Wells Bridge NY and a brother David Wilson and wife Cheryl from Greene NY As well as 19 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday January 10th, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street in Sidney with funeral services being held on Saturday January 11th, 2014 at 11:00 AM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel.
