Susan Marie Hotchkiss, 50, of Bainbridge passed away peacefully August 30th after a courageous battle with cancer, with her husband, Dave, and beloved sister-in-law, Rose, by her side.
Sue was born December 23, 1962 to Ralph and Carol (Sparks) Cornell in Sidney. She attended Bainbridge-Guilford School. On July 16, 1983 she married her one true love, David Hotchkiss, Sr. She was a dedicated employee at Kraft Foods in Walton as a lab technician, and was proud of earning her state lab certification. Sue was an avid baker and cook. She enjoyed reading and crocheting, especially baby blankets. Sue shared many wonderful memories of camping with her family- her favorite spot on the St. Lawrence River and Tibbetts Point Light House. She loved the outdoors, taking walks, enjoying nature and campfires. Above all, Sue was devoted to her family- they meant everything to her.
Sue is survived by her husband of 30 years David Hotchkiss, Sr. of Bainbridge; her parents Ralph and Carol Cornell, Jr. of Bainbridge; her children David Hotchkiss, Jr. and fiancé Keri of Buffalo and April and Alan McFee of Bainbridge; grandchildren Allie, Amya, Colden and grand-dog Brodey; siblings: Jeffrey and Terri Cornell of Bainbridge, Ralph Cornell, III of Bainbridge, William and Val Cornell of Indiana, and Anette Cornell and Joe Vandermark of Deposit; sister-in-law, Patty Cornell of Sidney; uncle Lewie Cornell of Afton; and mother-in-law Barbara Hotchkiss of Masonville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Sue was predeceased by her father-in-law, Earl Hotchkiss and her brother, Orlando "Nick" Cornell.
Friends are invited to call from 2:00-4:00pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY. A memorial service will follow at 4:00pm in the funeral chapel with Rev. Benjamin Shaw officiating.
