Edward Kokalas Sidney, NY Edward Kokalas, 98, of Sidney died peacefully Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born August 30, 1914, son of the late Gaspar and Martha (Lipstas) Kokalas in Johnson City. Ed graduated from Clarkson College in 1938 and worked as an electrical engineer for the Bendix Corp in Sidney for 38 years, he retired in 1977 as the engineering manager of the electrical components division. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sidney. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Susan (Zdanevich) Kokalas; Daughter, Susan Terry; Son, Edward A. Kokalas and wife Kathi, Daughter, Ellen Whipple and husband Ron. He is also survived by a sister, Martha Kokalas, 7 Grandchildren; Ken Simpson (Karen), Kathy Radomski (Andy), Amanda Carlin (Rob), Michael Terry (Kaho), Steven Whipple (Dena), Tim Whipple (Melissa), Eric Whipple (Shauna) and 15 Great Grandchildren and several nieces. Friends may call Monday, June 3, 2013 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 15 Liberty St. Sidney with Fr. Gordon Polenz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care 1 Birchwood Drive Oneonta, NY 13820 Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com Arrangements are under the direction of C.H.
