Judith S. Klindt
Sidney Center, NY
Judith S. Klindt, 68, of Sidney Center, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born on December 15, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ, the only child of T. Kendall "Pete" and Agnes "Billie" Slade. She graduated from Linden Hall Prep School in Lititz, PA. She then attended Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania, studying psycology and sociology.
On June 26, 1965, she was married to Gary L. Klindt in the Downsville Methodist Church. Together, they started their lives at Quonset Point Naval Air Station in Rhode Island, later moving back to New York State and eventually settling in Sidney Center. Early in Judy's life, she was very active with area youth groups in the Bridgeport, NY area, doing her best to help put troubled kids back on the right path. Judy loved horses and was an English saddle riding instructor.
Judy's entire life was dedicated to making sure other people were taken care of. She worked as an Emergency Room Receptionist at The Hospital in Sidney, and was a former member of the Sidney Center Emergency Squad, as well as a CPR instructor. Judy enjoyed crocheting, playing pinochle and flowers, especially her African Violets that she took great pride in. She also had a soft spot for animals, especially her pet cats and dogs. Her greatest joy, however, was in her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Judy is survived by:
Her beloved husband of 47 years, Gary L. Klindt, Sidney Center
Three children: Linda Klindt Shelton, Unadilla; Debra and Jeffrey Hornbeck, Sidney and Gary Klindt, Jr. and Mindy Church, Downsville
Six grandchildren: Matthew, Blake and Daniel Shelton, all of Unadilla, and Connor, Jesse and Jillian Hornbeck, all of Sidney.
Friends are invited to call from 6:00-9:00pm on Monday, May 6, 2013 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney.
