Obituary of Rita Jane Dyer

Rita Jane Oglesby Dyer Sidney, NY Rita Jane Oglesby Dyer, 63, of Catawissa, PA, and Sidney, NY, passed away on April 20, 2013 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. She was lovingly surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully after an extended illness. Rita was born in 1949 in Calicoon, NY to Myrtle B. and Arlen A. Oglesby. She was predeceased by her father, Arlen, in 1989 and her brother, A. Edward Oglesby, in 2007. Rita is survived by 3 children; Penelope Dyer, Bloomsburg, PA, Andrew Dyer (wife Crystal), Catawissa, PA and Pamela Dyer (fiancé Ronald Jumper, Jr.), Mt. Carmel, PA; one very special granddaughter Trisha "TJ" Fasnacht, Bloomsburg, PA; and husband, Christopher Dyer of Catawissa, PA. Rita is also survived by her mother Myrtle B. Oglesby, Sidney and four siblings; Sharon Wickes, Sidney, Larue Brower (husband Douglas), Sidney, Helen Russ (husband Philip), Goode, VA, and Wayne Oglesby, Sidney Center; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Oglesby, Unadilla, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was a graduate of Sidney High School. Her joys in life were her family and country living. She worked hard throughout her life and she enjoyed her work at the Columbia County Historical Society the most. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday April 22nd at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 - 6:00 PM before the service.
