Donald F. Field

Donald Francis Field, 89, of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his home he loved dearly in his favorite lounge chair next to the fire. Don was born on September 3, 1923, son of the late Chester and Christine (Mumbalo) Field in Afton. On January 9, 1949, Don married A. Barbara "Mimi" Zoeller in Unadilla.

Don was an A+ farmer for most of his life; he not only loved it, he was very good at it. He began farming when he was 14, and eventually bought his own farm and expanded into cattle dealing and trucking. He also bought and sold hides right up until his passing. He especially loved Farmall Tractors. Don loved to hunt, and he took different trips to Canada with friends to hunt moose and caribou. He also enjoyed fishing and cutting wood. He was fondly known as the "Mountain Man" by many who knew him. He loved local dirt track stockcar races and his annual vacation was to the Daytona 500. Don also was blessed with a sense of humor, and many knew him for his jokes and the "joke of the day".

He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.

Grandchildren: Amanda and Joe Winans and AJ and April McFee

Great-grandchildren: Jalyn Winans and Kaili and Bryant Fuller

Don was predeceased by his son, Donald Field, a granddaughter, Joni Fuller, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Friends are invited to call from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 19th at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
