Obituary of Andrea Sofia Monsen

Andrea S. Monsen Bainbridge, NY Andrea Sofia Monsen, 94, of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2013. Andrea was born on June 19, 1918, daughter of the late Harold A. and Petrea (Svendsen) Aune in Larvik, Norway. At the age of 5, Andrea and her family came to the United States. She resided in Brooklyn until 1992, when she followed her dream of moving upstate and relocated to Bainbridge. Andrea worked a variety of jobs including being a home companion on Park Avenue for several years, retiring at the age of 74. She had a green thumb and despite the small spaces of city living, she had house plants on every windowsill. Andrea was a devoted mother to four children: Carl E. Monsen (Harpursville), John A. Monsen (Lake City, FL), Ann Monsen Beebe, her caregiver for the past 15 years (Bainbridge) and Kenneth R. Monsen (Bainbridge); and beloved grandmother of Christian A. (Janice) Beebe and Karen Marie Beebe. Additionally, Andrea is survived by her brother, Herbert (Hartford, NY) and her sister, Harriett (Hampton Bay, Long Island). Andrea was predeceased by her husband, Carl M. Monsen in 1966. Friends may call on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 11:00am-1:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Dan Little, pastor of Landmark Church, Binghamton, officiating.
