Henry Joseph Cassata Oxford, NY On January 2, 2013, Henry "Hank" Cassata started his eternal journey. Henry passed away in his Oxford home early Wednesday morning surrounded by his family. Henry was a proud Vietnam veteran who served in the Marine Corps. After leaving the service in 1966, Henry went to work at Arrow Fastener where he met his wife, Lida. Henry's life was filled with his children Michael, Anthony, Dina, Katherina and Nickolas. He had a passion for knives and guns. Henry loved camping, the outdoors and enjoyed the company of his pets. Henry is preceded in death by his mother Virginia, father Henry and mother-in-law Katherina. He is survived by his wife, Lida; five children: Michael (wife Nicole) and their two children, Michael and Samantha, Anthony, Dina, Katherina and Nickolas; two sisters: Madeline Cassata Bereski and Marion Cassata Barnes and her husband, Jim; niece, Dana Davis and grand nephew, Mathew Ward. Henry is also survived by many great friends who he felt were like his family (Robert Hall Jr., Norm Northrup Jr. and Gary Heller) to name just a few. Henry will live on in the memories of many. Semper Fi. A prayer service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Friends may call following the prayer service from 3:00-5:00pm. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the NRA. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
