John Spinu Sidney, NY John Spinu, 62, of Sidney, NY for 27 years, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at his home with his family by his side. John was born in Romania on June 22, 1950. John was a man of many skills and had various jobs in Romania before he and his wife, Elena escaped from Romania to come to the United States to have a better life for their family of six children. After arriving here he eventually became a citizen of the United States and worked for Kraft Foods in Walton, NY. He is survived by his children: Maria (John) Biro, Sidney; Costel (Mirabela), Guilford; Ionel (Cristina), Sidney; Vasi (Brandon) Conrad, Sidney; Aurelia (fiance, Iulian), Sidney; and Daniel. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and one on the way in August. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers from Romania and Australia. John was a member of the Sidney First Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Monday, Dec. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the First Baptist Church, 28 River St, Sidney at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ken Southworth officiating. Burial will follow at the Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in John's memory to the Cancer Society or First Baptist Church, Sidney. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel Sidney.
