Charles D. Lord Bainbridge, NY Charles D. Lord, 84, of Bainbridge, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney. He was born in Bainbridge on October 17, 1928, son of the late Delavan and Mildred Lord. Charles graduated from Bainbridge High School with the Class of 1947 and Hamilton College in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He then started working at NBT Bank in Bainbridge, Sidney and Norwich as Vice President and Manager of Employee Benefits. He retired in 1990. On March 12, 1955, Charles married Carolyn Joey Wood in Binghamton. She predeceased him in 2007. Charles is survived by his son, Kevin and grandson, Thomas; sister, Theresa Grippin of Marathon; brothers, Roger and Fran Lord of Salamanca and Nelson and Jeanette Lord of Ocala, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the American Legion Post 806, the Rotary Club and was Village Historian for 31 years. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge and Soup Kitchen for 25 years. Charles and Carolyn, for 15 years, owned and operated Cara Cattery. They also raised, showed and sold Siamese cats and kittens throughout the northeast. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge with Rev. Gary Kubitz officiating. Burial will be at the family's convenience in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bainbridge Soup Kitchen, 27 N. Main St. Bainbridge, NY 13733. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney.
