Virgil O. Anthony Sidney, NY Virgil O. Anthony 85 of Sidney passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born April 7, 1927, son of the late Herbert and Leta (Holbrook) Anthony in New Berlin. Virgil attended Sidney Central Schools and enlisted in the United States Army in 1945. He served his country during WWII receiving the WWII Victory Medal and was honorably discharge in 1947 at the rank of Corporal. Virgil, prior to retirement, was the manger of Bern Furniture in Sidney. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion, the Sidney Moose Lodge and a charter member of Tri-County Kiwanis. Virgil was also a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sidney. Virgil is survived by: Nieces - Linda Mondore, Bainbridge Sandra Perkins, Cicero Doreen Neer, Port Crane Gail Lord, Georgia Nephews - Danny Chase, Sidney Dean Anthony, Sackets Harbor And several grand nieces, nephews and great, grand nieces and nephews. Virgil is also predeceased by Sisters, Ruth Keesler and Leta Chase, Brothers, Herbert and Maurice Anthony. Friends may call Monday, December 3, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 12 Noon with Fr. James Shevlin officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Gospel Hill Cemetery in Guilford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney Emergency Squad 72 River St. Sidney, NY 13838 Condolences may be sent online to www.landersfh.com Arrangements are under the direction of C.H.
