Mary Mandigo Morrison, 65, of Sidney, NY passed away at home on Saturday, July 14, 2012. She was the beloved daughter of Edward and Jane Mandigo of Port Crane, NY, the sister of Richard (Paula) Mandigo of Albany, NY, and the aunt of Stephen Mandigo of Ballston Spa, NY.
Mary's life was filled with passion and energy. Her philosophy was to live, love and laugh, which she demonstrated during her 32 years of teaching and 25 years of coaching. Due to her efforts in bringing women's sports to Sidney High School, she was honored with the "Mary Morrison Award" for athletic excellence. As the girl's field hockey coach, the Lady Warriors compiled a total of 262 wins, numerous league and sectional titles and one New York State Championship. All of her efforts culminated in her being inducted into the Sidney Alumni Sports Hall of Fame and the Section IV Coaching Hall of Fame. Her care and guidance for the students of Sidney Central Schools is widely known and well remembered, and she was well-loved by her students.
Mary's love also extended to all animals and she was an active and generous supporter of the Delaware Valley Humane Society and several other animal rescue organizations, as well as being the rescuer of several dogs and cats personally.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838.
