Madelyn F. Kean Sidney, NY Madelyn F. Kean, our beloved mother, nanny, sister and always the helping friend, went to meet her Savior on May 31, 2012 surrounded by her family. Madelyn was born on December 20, 1917, daughter of the late John and Florence (Bovee) Blum in Braman, PA. She was married to John A. Kean on February 9, 1935 in Monticello, NY. John predeceased her on September 11, 1997. Some of Madelyn's favorite moments were all the many walks on the beach, picking up seashells, flower gardening, always spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her many camping trips and enjoying a good cup of coffee. She was a member of the Sidney United Methodist Church and was a 55 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #255 where she acted as a past Grand Officer and past Matron of the Star. Madelyn was a retired employee of Amphenol Corporation after several years. Madelyn is survived by: 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Rose and George Wambolt of Sidney and Judith and Charles Maines of Sidney Son-in-law, Douglas Blakeslee of Homestead, Ill. Sister, Myrtle Oglesby of Sidney As well as 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Madelyn was predeceased by her daughter, Carroll Blakeslee; her great-grandson, Bradley Sutliff; her sister, Shirley Keesler; and four brothers: Merle, Robert, Lester and Stanley Blum. Friends are invited to call from 10:00-11:00am on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the United Methodist Church of Sidney, 12 Liberty Street Sidney, NY 13838. An Eastern Star Service will begin at 11:00am with the funeral service immediately to follow at the church. Rev. Susan Heafield, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in Pine Mill Cemetery, Pine Mill, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either the Sidney United Methodist Church, or to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Drive Oneonta, NY 13820. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
