Ruth A. Harvey Oneonta, NY Ruth A. Harvey, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. Ruth was born on April 16, 1916, daughter of the late Earl B. and Cecelia (Combs) Armstrong in Walton. She graduated from Walton High School with the Class of 1931. On July 25, 1935, Ruth was married to Paul H. Smith in Walton. Paul predeceased her on December 13, 1979. She later married Ernest C. Harvey on December 18, 1999 in Apache Junction, AZ. Ernest survives her in Oneonta. Ruth worked a variety of jobs over the span of her life. She was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for Keith Clark for 8 years, the Sidney Record/Tri-Town News for 10 years and for McCarthy Enterprises for 10 years. She also held positions as a Church Secretary for numerous churches, including the First Congregational Church of River Edge, NJ, the Allendale Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, FL, the First Baptist Church in Apache Junction, AZ and the Epiphany Lutheran Church in Apache Junction. In addition to the secretarial positions, Ruth was also an organist and pianist for the First Baptist Church of Sidney, the First Southern Baptist Church in Apache Junction, the East Guilford Presbyterian Church, the Unadilla Presbyterian Church, the Reformed Church of Saddle Brook, NJ and the Memorial Park Baptist Church in Vestal. She was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Sidney. In addition to her husband, Ernest, Ruth is survived by: Two Children: Beverly S. (Wilson) McCarthy and her husband, Robert of Sidney Sheryl S. Mott and her husband, Ronald of Unadilla Grandchildren and Spouses: Amy Wilson Farrell (Michael) of Sidney Center, Craig S. Wilson (Brenda) of Sarasota, FL, Eric Wilson (Marcia) of Unadilla, Heather V. (Wilson) Coleman (Daniel) of Newark Valley, Dwight L. Mott of Lesotho, South Africa and his wife, Jeanne Ntibalikure (Mott) of Walton, and Tammi L. Mott of New York City. Great-Grandchildren: Matthew, Adam and Erica Farrell of Sidney, Jessica (JD) Coay of Sarasota; Austin, Tara, Spencer and OnaLee Wilson of Unadilla and Kevin, Meghan, Ryan, Kaitlin, Conner, Andrew J., Jack and Justin Paul Coleman of Newark Valley. Adopted Grandchildren: Alain Harelimana, Madeleine (Mado) Uwase and Marylise (Ka-Na-Na) Uwabideli all of Walton and formerly of Rwanda. Great-Great Granddaughter, Jane Adalle Coay of Sarasota, FL Step-daughter, Janyse Ashley of Apache Junction Step-grandson, Aaron Ashley of Seattle, WA As well as two sisters, Virginia Harris of Stafford, VA and Esther McCann of St. Petersburg, FL. Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Paul, and three brothers, Lawrence, Roland and Donald Armstrong. Friends are invited to call from 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will take place at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 22nd at the First Baptist Church of Sidney, 28 River Street Sidney. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 23rd in Walton Cemetery, Walton. Memorial contributions in Ruth's name may be directed to the First Baptist Church, 28 River St. Sidney, NY 13838. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com.
