Obituary of Harold A. DuMond

Harold A. DuMond Unadilla, NY Harold A. DuMond, 90, of Youngs Station, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta. Harold was born on March 17, 1921, on the family farm in the Town of Sidney on Road Thirteen. He was the son of the late Alfred A. "Pete" and Mary (Strangeway) DuMond. Harold and his siblings attended the one room schoolhouse in Youngs and graduated from Sidney Central School in 1940. On November 24, 1946, Harold and Iva Kelsey were married. They shared 61 years of marriage before Iva predeceased him on February 10, 2007. Harold was a second-generation farmer on the Road 13 family farm, which he dearly loved. He loved to be outdoors driving his John Deere tractor, doing whatever needed to be done, especially on beautiful sunshine and blue sky days. He was also a member of the Eastern Milk Producers, DHIA, Sidney Republican Committee, Unadilla Masons and was a past Sidney Tax Assessor for many years. Harold is survived by his brother, Everett (Barbara) DuMond; two sons: Avery (Patricia) DuMond and William (Lisa) DuMond; a step-daughter, Anna (Ike) Crosby; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Harold was also predeceased by his sisters, Hester Olds, Mildred Ruling and Cora O'Connell, brothers, Harland DuMond and Steve DuMond; niece, Violet Bishop; nephew, Jeff DuMond and niece, Jean DuMond. Friends are invited to call from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Patricia Robinson, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Sidney, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of ones choice.
