Obituary of Ralph Lewis Ostraco

Ralph L. Ostraco, Jr. Mt. Upton, NY Ralph Lewis Ostraco, Jr., 79, of Mt. Upton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Ralph was born on December 27, 1932, son of the late Ralph Lewis, Sr. and Carmela (Spinelli) Ostraco in Brooklyn, NY. He served his country with the 1st Marine Corp. Division in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1952. Before moving to Mt. Upton, Ralph worked for Allied Baggage at JFK Airport as a baggage handler. Ralph was predeceased by his wife of 21 years, Gwendolyn Ostraco, in 2000. He was an active member of Christ Church in Gilbertsville, as well as the Eastern and Western Tumbler Pigeon Club. Ralph is survived by: His four children: Daughter, Catherine Smith and her husband, Dennis Son, Ralph Ostraco Son, Salvadore Ostraco Daughter, Tracy Ostraco Three grandchildren: Denise, Laurie and Michael Smith Brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Priscilla Ostraco Brother, George Ostraco Sister, Shirley Lewis As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 2:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, February 2nd at Christ Church, 166 Marion Ave. (St. Hwy. 51) Gilbertsville, NY 13776. The Rev. Joseph Acanfora, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church, P.O. Box 345 Gilbertsville, NY 13776.
