Clarence Bruce Youngs, 90, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Veterans Home in Oxford, NY after a long battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 69 years, Evelyn (LeSuer) Youngs, his devoted dachshund Sam, and five children: his son William (Punk) Youngs & his wife Peggy of Grand Blanc, MI, his son Barry Youngs & his wife Dianne of Lumberton, NC, his daughter Barb Cleaveland of Franklin, NY, his daughter Judy Cannistra & her husband Richard of Clarence, NY, his son Steve Youngs & his wife Mary of Afton, NY. He also leaves behind his brother Thurston Youngs of Vestal, NY, his sister Martha (Youngs) Smith of Bainbridge, NY & his sister Eileen (Youngs) Keeler of New Windsor, NY, as well as 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Clarence, better known as "Cy", was born & raised in Afton, NY, the son of Clarence William Youngs and Isabelle Hatton. He was a kind, loving, supportive, husband, father and friend. He was a veteran of World War II where he served from July 1942 - November 1945 as a crew chief in the US Army Air Force in China, Burma, India Theater. He served as a Manager at the Raymond Corporation in Greene, NY where he worked until he retired in August 1983. During his retirement he enjoyed many great years of camping with his camping club who became extended family. He marveled in playing the organ to entertain his many friends & family and at senior meals in Bainbridge & Florida. He also enjoyed his years of traveling to Florida for the winter months.
