Richard P. Drotar, 69, of Sidney, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at his home. Richard was born on January 29, 1942, son of Peter R. and Dorothy (Kozlowski) Drotar in Johnson City. He graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1960. On August 29, 1970, he married Betty Martin in Sidney. Richard was an employee of I.B.M. as a field engineer for 30 years. In 1993, he started and currently operated Drotar Enterprises. Dick was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney, as well as the Rotary Club of Sidney. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Sidney Golf and Country Club. Dick also bowled for several years.

His wife of 40 years, Betty Drotar of Sidney
Two daughters: Kelly DeShaw and her husband, Tim of Sidney
Tina Gavin and her husband, Michael of Sidney
One son: Jason Drotar of King George, VA
His mother, Dorothy Drotar of Sidney
Seven grandchildren: Katy, Gabriella, Olivia, Kyle, Brandon, Christopher and Jonathan
Three Brothers: Paul Drotar and his wife, Betty of Syracuse, Peter Drotar of Sidney and David Drotar of Albany
Two Sisters: Donna St. John of Sidney and Karen Drotar of Albany
Three brothers-in-law: Terry and Anita Martin, Dan and Gayle Martin and John and Donna Martin
Five sisters-in-law: Nancy Martin, Jill and Joel Blincoe, Helen Martin, Jeanne Martin and Marie Martin.
As well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard was predeceased by his father, Peter R. Drotar.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, May 30, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St., Sidney. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dick's name may be directed to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Dr. Oneonta, NY 13820.
