Thomas A. Phoenix, Jr. 89 of Sidney Center passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Oneonta.
He was born June 25, 1921, son of the late Thomas A. and Ruby (Naylor) Phoenix in Walton, NY.
Tom married Marjorie Bailey in Walton. She predeceased him on November 14, 2003.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 during WWII. Tom was awarded the Bronze Star for his service at the battle of Normandy as well as the middle- eastern service medal and the good conduct medal.
Tom was employed as a machinist for the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney when he retired in 1986.
He is survived by:
3 Daughters - Dona Phoenix, Minnesota
Darcy Phoenix Atkins and her husband John Atkins, Sidney Center
Darleen Phoenix, Wappinger Falls
2 Sisters - Winifred White, Walton
Beulah Hussey, Treadwell
6 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren
He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family
Burial with military honors will be in Highland Cemetery in Sidney Center
