Martha Gale Sidney, NY Martha Gale 91 of Sidney passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Oneonta Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 16, 1919, daughter of the late George and Mary (Blackman) Brooks in Bells, Tenn. Martha graduated from Unadilla High School in the Class of 1937. She married Elbert Gale on August 12, 1951 in Unadilla, NY. He predeceased her on March 22, 1967. Martha was a secretary in Unadilla from 1937 to 1952. She volunteered at The Hospital in Sidney and was a member of the Sidney United Methodist Church. As a member she served as financial secretary and also taught Sunday school. Martha was a member of the Eastern Star as well. She is survived by: 2 Sons - Richard Gale, Sidney James Gale, Sidney Step-brother, Hershel Emerson Step-sister, Francis Cassidy Sister-in-law - Christine Emerson Several nieces, nephews and cousins She is also predeceased by 2 brothers, George and Benjamin Brooks Friends may call Friday, January 21, 2011, from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church 12 Liberty St. Sidney. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Susan Heafield officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Sidney 12 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838 Condolences may be sent online to www.landersfh.com Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St.
