Obituary of Theresa Ann Zieno
Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theresa Ann Zieno, 93, of Sidney, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford.
Theresa was born on March 13, 1931 in Norwich, NY to the late Joseph and Josephine (Lombardi) Spadaro. On June 25, 1955, she married Anthony J. Zieno in Norwich and shared 60 happy years together before he predeceased her on September 1, 2015.
In their earlier years, Theresa devoted her days to raising her four children and caring for her father-in-law. She was always up for a game of catch with her kids. She enjoyed baking cookies and experimenting with different recipes and insisting her family "try this, it's terrible". She also knitted and made ceramics, liked to bowl and enjoyed golfing, particularly walking the course at Guilford.
Theresa loved to walk. She would often be seen walking to and from Sacred Heart Church in Sidney where she was a long-time, devoted member of the church as well as the Rosary Society. Theresa was proud to be honored as Parishioner of the Year in 2003. As long as her health allowed, she attended Mass daily in honor of her late son, Mark; she felt strongly that her faith deepened after his untimely passing.
Theresa is survived by her three children: David and Rebecca Zieno of Bainbridge, Andrew and Heather Zieno of Ilion, and Bernadette Giglio of Sherburne; grandchildren: Jonathan and Stephanie Zieno, Patrick and Colleen Zieno, Daniel Giglio (Monica Massuco), Geana Giglio, Michael Giglio, Jared Boucher, Nicholas Zieno and Corine Zieno; great-grandchildren: Josephine, Vincent, Nina Theresa, Olivia and Audrey; sister-in-law, Rose Spadaro; and many nieces and nephews.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband and best friend, Anthony; her son, Mark; and her siblings: Carmen, John, and Anthony Spadaro, Dolly DiNoto, Mary D'Angelo and Molly Garito.
The family would like to thank ALL the people who helped care for Mom in her home, and ALL the people from the Vets Home; they cared for Mom, and all of us, like we were their Family.
