Skip was a cherished part of Finger Lakes Live Steamers for over 20 years. Many of us will remember Skip’s passion as a live steam builder, his enthusiasm for our open houses where he would participate as a cook, his representing the club at the Ithaca train shows, and most of all his kindness and passion for model trains. Our thoughts are with Skip's family during this difficult time. We know that his presence will be missed, but his legacy within our club will endure. With deepest condolences, Wayne R. Always one for adventure! Costa Rica 2017 When I sent out an invitation for a 5am bird watching tour, Skip was the only one who took me up on the offer. Fond memories. He was also the first to join our nighttime creepy critters tour with his grandsons--an early bird and night owl!

I will miss your gentlemanly kindness. I will miss your friendly greetings, always positive, always pulling your truck over as you drive by me walking to wish me a good day. I will miss you asking me the name of the beautiful tall spikes of flowers around the village that I still can’t remember the name of but always remind me of you. I will miss you gently correcting me when I try to guess the species of bird by its call. I will think of you every autumn when the black chestnuts rain down on the sidewalks. I will miss how much you enjoyed touring my gardens and making me feel like I was doing you the favor. I will miss how much you appreciated the little details of a garden meal, asking about the edible flowers or an interesting vegetable—many of these touches made especially for you. And I will especially miss how you would take my hand, look me in the eye to tell me how much you enjoyed your visit. Sharry
