Elmond Raymond Stark Obituary

Elmond Raymond Stark, 79, of Sidney, passed away on September 8, 2024.


Born to Fred and Myrtha (Greene) Stark on August 18, 1945 in Oneonta, he grew up in Gilbertsville, NY where he attended Gilbertsville Central School.


Elmond proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1971. He worked for many years at Unalam until his retirement.


Elmond had many interests over the years. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts, was a member of the Sidney Fire Department McDonald Hose Co. and was an active member with the Sidney Historical Society and many other organizations. He was a skilled woodworker, and his greatest passion was the genealogy of his family. He spent countless hours always enjoying the sharing of the information that he was cataloging.


He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.


Elmond is survived by his: two children, Barry Stark and Cassandra Nichols; his siblings: Ascenith Christian of Mt. Upton, Lawrence Stark of Virginia, Anita Kaler of Nassau, NY, Annabeth Coon of Gilbertsville; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Peter Seneck, who helped Elmond with his travel to appointments.


He was predeceased by his parents, as well as an infant sister, Allean, and a brother, John.


Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Butternut Valley Cemetery.
