Obituary of Linda J. Bornstein
Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda (Lin) Jo Bornstein (Ostrander) was born June 22, 1951, to Clarence and Barbara Ostrander in Delhi, New York. She had three siblings, John Ostrander, Corinne Alvino and a brother Robert who died at birth in 1956.
Lin attended St. Mary's Catholic School and then Center Street Elementary. She graduated from Oneonta High School in 1969. Lin went on to graduate from AO Fox Hospital Radiology Program and after graduation received a job offer from The Hospital in Sidney, New York, where she worked as an x-ray technician for several years.
While Lin was working at the hospital in Sidney, she met her future husband, David. After six years of courting, David proposed to Lin in a hotel elevator while they were attending a dental convention. They tied the knot in a surprise wedding on December 30, 1982. True to Las Vegas odds, although not many thought the marriage would last, they spent the next 41 years making memories together. Lin and David loved Las Vegas and shared most of their time living between Sidney and Las Vegas. Lin was an avid golfer, skier, dancer and loved to entertain. She enjoyed throwing parties for friends and was also an excellent cook and interior decorator. But her favorite role was caring for her Bichon dogs. Lin loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with them when she could.
Lin is survived by her husband Dr. David Bornstein, stepchildren David Bornstein and Lisa Brown, brother John Ostrander, sister Corinne (William) Alvino, nieces Dianne (Joe) Daum and April Blackmon, nephews Benjamin (Chika) Bailey, Trevor Ostrander, Ian Ostrander, Graham Ostrander and Hunter Ostrander, great niece and nephews Shanleigh Benson, Alex (Aubrianna) Harvey, Rory Jenkins, Eric Jenkins, Nora Blackmon and great-great nephew Luka Benson, cousins Michelle Paulino, Margie (Dave) Laughton, Sally Ostrander and Doug (Maryann) Monroe.
Family and friends are invited to a brief graveside service that will be held on Friday, September 27, at 1:00 PM, Prospect Hill Cemetery, at the Melnik-Bornstein family plot, in Sidney, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the smallpawsrescue.org in Lin's name.
