Charles H. Howland Masonville, NY Charles H. Howland 91 of Masonville passed away at his home Monday January 10, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 3, 1920, son of the late Clifford and Edna (Reynolds) Howland in Barbourville, NY. Charlie married Savalla Gifford on January 12, 1944 in Masonville. He was a dairy farmer and throughout his life he also was employed as a custodian for the Sidney School District, as well as York Modern and Scintilla. He retired in 1985 from NYSEG where he was a 1st class repairman at the Jennison Station in Bainbridge. Charlie had a true love of family and nature. He was known for his fabulous gardens, especially his potatoes. Charlie was a member of the Masonville Federated Church; he served as a Deacon and was on the Church Council. He was also a 50year member of the Masonville Grange. He loved to hunt fish and visit with family, friends and neighbors. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Savalla Howland Son and daughter-in-law - Charles V. and Colleen Howland Daughter and Son-in-law - Beth and Doug McKown Son-in-law - Daniel Dean Grandchildren - Shelly Howland, Josie East, Barrett Howland, Kasta Howland, Heather and Ember McKown, Amy Dean Heap, Cory Dean and Christy Eastwood. 10 Great grandchildren Many nieces and nephews And his loyal dog, Duke He was also predeceased by his daughter, Sally Dean and brother, Jack Reynolds Friends may call Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 6-8PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Masonville Federated Church with Pastor Roger Davies officiating. Burial will follow in Masonville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Charlie's name to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care 1 Birchwood Drive Oneonta, NY 13820 or the Masonville Federated Church Masonville, NY 13804.
