Obituary of Finnegan G. Hunter

After a courageous battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Finnegan G. Hunter, age 12, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse. He was surrounded and supported by family, his hockey teammates, and his best friends from school before he passed. He was born on December 25, 2011 in Oneonta, NY, a special gift that Christmas and every day after. An excellent student, Finn was preparing to enter middle school and the 7th grade at Bainbridge-Guilford Central School. Finn loved life. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and loved all sports but found his passion in ice hockey at the young age of 2. As a member of the Southern Tier Hockey Association, Finn played goalie for his team, the Binghamton Freeze. Neither his diagnosis nor his treatments could break Finn's upbeat spirit. He was an example of strength, bravery and kindness. His positive outlook, infectious smile and willingness to help anyone made a difference in countless lives. Finn is survived by his mother, Cassandra; father and stepmother, Thomas and Cindy; his older brothers, William and Logan; stepsisters, Avery and Jaidyn; as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, cousins, and many, many friends. His Uncle Frank played a special role in Finn's life as his "cancer buddy", for which his family will always be grateful. Finn's Celebration of Life and Love will be held on September 8, 2024 at 1:00pm at the General Clinton Regatta Park in Bainbridge.
