Obituary of Douglas J. Krut

Douglas Joseph Krut, (Doug) 77, of Unadilla, NY, passed away on Monday July 15th, at Albany Medical Center in Albany. Doug was born in Mercy Hospital in Rockville Center, NY on March 19th, 1947, to Elizabeth Krut and James Krut. He grew up in Freeport, NY and worked with his dad as a truck driver. On June 26, 1974, he joined the New York City Police Department. He served in Midtown North, NSU-16, Far Rockaway 101 precinct, and spent almost 10 years as a motorcycle cop at Highway 3 on the Grand Central Parkway. He retired after 20 years in June of 1994. After his retirement his greatest pleasures was spending time with his family, fishing, growing vegetables in his garden and taking care of his animals. Doug will be dearly missed by his surviving relatives, which includes his children: son, Douglas Krut Jr. and his wife Michele, his daughter, Tracey McEwan and her husband Brandon, and his daughter Paula Krut and Brian Zaczek; as well as his grandchildren: Brandon and Brianne Krut, Marena and Alyssa Zaczek, and Kevin and Kayla McEwan. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Louise Goodmok; his brother, Tom Krut and his wife Celeste; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Bailey and Jan Krut; as well as his former wife, Joanne Krut, and numerous nieces and nephews. Most of all, he will be dearly missed by his devoted German Shepherd, Lady, who never left his side. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Krut, his father James Krut, and brothers James, Martin, and John. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Super Heroes Humane Society, 160 Pony Farm Road, Oneonta NY 13820. Calling hours will be held at C H Landers in Sidney NY on Saturday July 20th from 3-5 pm. Burial will be held at 11 am on July 21st at Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Upton NY. Celebration Of Life will be held at Upstate Company Facility, State Highway 8. Mt. Upton, NY 13809 on Sunday July 21st beginning at noon.
